Tips for keeping your shower curtain mildew free
A shower curtain is the most practical way of keeping the water contained in
the bath and shower while you are using it. That being said, it's a good idea if
it is waterproof or has a waterproof liner.
The most common shower curtain comes with a vinyl liner. Vinyl liners are so
economical that they can and should be replaced often for sanitary purposes.
There are curtains available that have water-resistant fibers woven directly
into the material; and you can make these also last longer by using a waterproof
liner with this type also.
Those fortunate enough to have an outdoor shower are the lucky ones who get to
purchase all those fun, witty, daring shower curtains that scream "Buy Me!" but
absolutely do not fit the color scheme and style of your current home decor. And
for those of you lucky enough to have a beautiful antique claw foot bathtub and
shower, don't fret, the Internet is a great resource for finding extra large
shower curtains, often with a rod to accommodate special sized tubs.
With any shower curtain, make sure you let them air out after you shower.
Water collects in the folds allowing mold and mildew to grow. Just because
shower curtains are getting wet doesn't mean they are getting clean. If you have
a washable curtain it should be washed periodically. |
